DIY Fall Decor & Spray

I love allll the Fall things. I am what many people call “Basic” when it comes to this season and I am proud of it! A couple things I am NOT about though is paying $50+ for a fall wreath or inhaling all those “fragrance” chemicals from store bought packaged potpourri. Solution? DIY!

FALL ESSENTIAL OIL SPRAY

First, make yourself the yummiest fall spray using an essential oil blend. For me this includes the following recipe:

Cinnamon Bark – 10 drops

Clove – 10 drops

Nutmeg – 8 drops

Orange – 8 drops

*Some people like to add Ginger to this mix but I am not a fan so I will leave it out of my spray. If you like Ginger, then go for it and add 5 drops or so (to preference).

Fill a 2 oz glass spray bottle with the oils first and then top it off with distilled water. You can use Witch Hazel or Vodka instead of water if you are feeling sassy. Shake before spraying.

I made the recipe a little stronger than most because I want the smell to linger and I will not only be using it for room spray but also as a potpourri spray on the following DIY projects …

FALL WREATH

You guys…. I spent $15.95 on all of this at Hobby Lobby. That is a far cry from the gouging I saw on the wreath aisle. Ouch! Do yourself a favor and walk on over to the floral section where the $4.99 (+40% off) bare stick wreaths are. Then load up your basket with the (40% off) individual decorations. Do a little DIY magic and vwuala!

Flower Power!

After you arrange and re-arrange your wreath the way you want it. Use the always handy hot glue gun to make sure everything stays right where you put it.Flower Power! (2)Now that you have your masterpiece together. Hang that bad boy on your wall or, in my case, front door and spray it with your already created Fall Essential Oil Spray. Now whenever you have guests over, they will be greeted with the essence of Fall…. Mmmmmmmm!

FALL POTPOURRI

I have been wanting a cornucopia since I learned about them in grade school. My Fall dreams have come true with this 40% off gem from Hobby Lobby and I am about to fill it up with some DIY Fall Potpourri Ya’ll!

AFTER (2)

Choose the look of your potpourri first. I went with a mix of pinecones and acorns (purchased this way). I then added a little pumpkin and corn flare on my own. I know, skills right? You can add cranberries or dried orange peel or cinnamon sticks. Whatever is your jam, you do you!.

Super simple, you already have half of if done by making the Spray earlier. Put the potpourri mix in your favorite bowl, or cornucopia, and then spray the heck out of it. Make sure it soaks up all the goodness. Choosing wood items in your mix will help with this absorption. Shake your spray and repeat when needed.

AFTER (1)

Feel like Martha Stewart yet? Well you should because you just killed the Fall DIY game. Give yourself a pat on your back and go snuggle up with a Pumpkin Spice Latte. You deserve it for not only being thrifty but also looking out for your health by ditching and switching those toxic fragrances for the goodness of EOs. Cheers!
